从半年多前看了老友大龙space上推荐的《Being John Malkovich》(确切地说,是半年前看的上半场,最近才看的下半场),还看过《Confessions of a Dangerous Mind》和《Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind》,我都没有注意到编剧是谁。

Do I have an original thought in my head? My bald head. Maybe if I were happier my hair wouldn't be falling out. Life is short. I need to make the most of it. Today is the first day of the rest of my life. I'm a walking clich». I really need to go to the doctor and have my leg checked. There's something wrong. A bump. The dentist called again. I'm way overdue. If I stop putting things off I would be happier. All I do is sit on my fat ass. If my ass wasn't fat I would be happier. I wouldn't have to wear these shirts with the tails out all the time. Like that's fooling anyone. Fat ass. I should start jogging again. Five miles a day. Really do it this time. Maybe rock climbing. I need to turn my life around. What do I need to do? I need to fall in love. I need to have a girlfriend. I need to read more. Improve myself. What if I learned Russian or something, or took up an instrument. I could speak Chinese. I'd be the screenwriter who speaks Chinese and plays the oboe. That would be cool. I should get my hair cut short. Stop trying to fool myself and everyone else into thinking I have a full head of hair. How pathetic is that. Just be real. Confident. Isn't that what women are attracted to? Men don't have to be attractive. But that's not true. Especially these days. Almost as much pressure on men as there is on women these days. Why should I be made to feel I have to apologize for my existence? Maybe it's my brain chemistry. Maybe that's what's wrong with me. Bad chemistry. All my problems and anxiety can be reduced to a chemical imbalance or some kind of misfiring synapses. I need to get help for that. But I'll still be ugly though. Nothing's going to change that.

FCC Song

Here's a little number I wrote the other day while out duck hunting with a judge (quack!)

Fuck you very much the FCC
Fuck you very much for fining me
Five thousand bucks a fuck so I'm really out of luck
That's more than Heidi Fliess was charging me

So fuck you very much the FCC
For proving that free speech just isn't free
Clear Channel's a dear channel
So Howard Stern must go
Attorney General Ashcroft doesn't like strong words and so
He's charging twice as much as all the drugs for Rush Limbaugh
So fuck you all so very much

So fuck you very much dear Mr. Bush
For heroically sitting on your tush
For Halliburton, Enron, all the companies who fail
Let's send them a clear signal and stick Martha straight in jail
She's an uppity rich bitch and at least she isn't male
So fuck you all so very much

So fuck you dickhead Mr. Cheney too
Fuck you and fuck everything you do
Your pacemaker must be a fake
You haven't got a heart
As far as I'm concerned your just a pasty-faced old fart
And as for Condolezza she's an intellectual tart
So fuck you all so very much

So fuck you very much the EPA
For giving all Alaska's oil away
It really is a bummer
When I can't fill my Hummer
The ozone's a no-go zone now that Arnold's here to say
"Ze nuclear winter games are going to take place in L.A."
So fuck you all so very much

So what the planet fails
Let's save the great white males
And fuck you all so very much (quack!)

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,
那是最美好的时代,那是最糟糕的时代;
it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness,
那是个睿智的年月,那是个蒙昧的年月;
it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity,
那是信心百倍的时期,那是疑虑重重的时期;
it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness,
那是阳光普照的季节,那是黑暗笼罩的季节;
it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair,
那是充满希望的春天,那是让人绝望的冬天;
we had everything before us, we had nothing before us,
我们面前无所不有,我们面前一无所有;
we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way
--in short, the period was so. far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

革命是浪漫的,革命是惨烈的;
革命是充满希望的,革命是走向毁灭的;
革命是伟大光荣正确的,革命是反稳定反和谐的;

Man In Black

Walk the Line

June Carter.

Man In Black Lyrics

By: John R. Cash, © 1971 House of Cash, Inc.
Recorded February 16, 1971
Number 3 - Country Charts; Number 58 - Pop Charts

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.

And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen' that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believen' that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

Johnney Cash

Boy Named Sue

Well, my daddy left home when I was three
and he didnt leave much to ma and me
just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze
now i dont blame him cause he ran and hid
but the meanest thing that he ever did
was before he left he went and named me Sue

Well he must a' thought that it was quite a joke
and it got a lot of laughs from a lots of folk
it seems I had to fight my whole life through
some gal would giggle and I'd get red
and some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head
I tell ya life ain't easy for a boy named Sue

Well i grew up quick and I grew up mean
my fists got hard and my wits got keen
I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame
but I made me a vow to the moon and stars
that I'd search the honky-tonks and bars
and kill that man that give me that awful name

Well it was Gatlinburg in mid July
and I'd just hit town and my throat was dry
I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew
at an old saloon on a street of mud
there at a table dealin' stud
sat the dirty mangy dog that named me Sue

Well I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
from a worn out picture that my mother'd had
and I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye
he was big and bent and grey and old
and I looked at him and my blood ran cold
and I said 'My name is Sue how do you do
now you're gonna die!'

Yeah! that's what I told him

Well I hit him hard right between the eyes
and he went down but to my surprise
he come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear
but I busted a chair right across his teeth
and we crashed through the wall and into the street
kickin' and a'gougin' in the mud and the blood and the beer

I tell ya I've fought tougher men
but I really can't remember when
he kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile
I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss
and he went for his gun and I pulled mine first
he stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile

And he said "Son this world is rough
and if a man's gonna make it he's got to be tough
and I know I wouldn't be there to help you along
so I give you that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
and it's that name that helped to make you strong"

He said "Now you just fought one hell of a fight
and I know you hate me and you got the right
to kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do
but you oughtta thank me before I die
for the gravel in your guts and the spit in your eye
cause I'm the son of a bitch that named you Sue"

Yeah! well what could I do?
What COULD I do?

I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
and I called him my pa and he called me his son
and I come away with a different point of veiw
and I think about him now and then
every time I try, and every time I win
and if I ever have a son I think I am gonna name him
Bill or George any damn thing but Sue
