Charles has been reading your blog diligently. And this is the 1st post he understands fully without my help. I don't know if you read the book or just saw the movie. He not only knows "1984" he also liked "Animal Farm". You should see this movie too if you havn't. I saw in with him in 1997. It's about the "Stalin" era. Stalin is a leader pig on the animal farm-which is Pr-WW2 Soviet union. I laughed my posteriors off for the quote "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than the others." Political humor at its best. Enjoy your retirement. XY
I've read those 2 novels without knowing there's movie of the same name. Orwell devoted himself into Spanish civil war and joined "the soviet side" that's why the 2 novels came out afterward, as I have introduced in an earlier post. But I have never read the original version in English, maybe later I will. Charles used to read whole collection of 金庸 in his primary school age, so there should be no problem for him to read Chinese :)
